“Language Tree of My City” / LINGVA ARBO

A two-stage family and school project. First, pupils and their parents create a family language tree: branches are language groups, leaves are the languages spoken in their families. Pupils’ trees make up a class tree, and class trees make up a school tree.

In the second stage the school language trees are exchanged for real saplings, and the city’s Language Alley is planted. In Kyiv in 2007 the project was supported by the All-Ukrainian Association of School Heads, the city library system, the City House of Nature and the Education Department.
