“Diaspora Days in Ukraine”

The Caravan took the job on forty days before the opening: the Ministry of Culture and Tourism asked it to run the event in place of the organizers who had done it for decades. The Caravan’s condition was a free hand over the concepts of the symposia — from the title to the programme.

One symposium, for poets, playwrights and writers of the Ukrainian communities abroad, was given the title “Ukrainian-language art as a source of harmony for the inner universe of today’s Ukrainian” and was held with the support of the “Feel the Taste of Your Native Language” movement. Guests from abroad had to be invited, met, housed and fed; volunteers did most of it.
