LINGVA BATALO international peacemaking festival
A three-day open-air contest of language-teaching methods in transparent domes, with presentations of national cultures. The motto: “Language contests instead of war”.
The contests were to take place in transparent domes five metres across, set fifteen metres apart, each with sound equipment and tiered seating around it. During the teaching breaks the same domes became concert stages: songs in the languages of the participating countries, national dress and cooking.
The rules spelled out what mattered: methods compete, not people; any national language is an equal working language; and taking part is entirely charitable — observers and method representatives alike cover their own costs.
